November was full of activity. We had the Veterans Appreciation Dinner,
Thanksgiving meal at the View, and Thanksgiving Dinner at the Lodge. Not to
mention all the hard work that went into getting all the deer hides ready for shipment.
It is hard to believe that Christmas is just a four weeks away. December is always an exciting month at the Lodge. We kicked off the yearly Fund Raiser for the Needy Families on Oct. 30th with the pie and cake auction. Thanks to Taz for the amazing cake she made, Carol thoroughly enjoyed smashing it into my face. Please consider a contribution for the Needy Family Program. This is one of the major programs our Lodge does every year and it is something that will warm the cockles of your heart if you get involved. We have the Children’s Christmas Party on Dec. 19th. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will be at the Lodge to greet the children. There will games and treats for the kids; it is a special time for our Lodge. Let’s remember what the Christmas Season is all about, it is a time to celebrate life and to do good unto others. Elks Memorial Service is Dec. 6th at noon. We need singers for the choir so if you would like to help in the choir, contact Brian Rialti to get signed up.
There are other activities at the Lodge; Cass County is coming through on a Lodge Crawl on Dec. 12th. We will need help getting things together to accommodate our Brothers and Sisters from Cass County. The Lodge will furnish the meat and cheese trays however; we need volunteers to bring side dishes. There will be a sign up sheet at the Lodge. At this time we do not know the exact time of their arrival however, we are the last stop of the night which would indicate we are going to have a great time. Amy Hunter has volunteered to do karaoke for the Lodge Crawl.
Don’t forget the PER Tea on Dec. 24, there will be a small charge of $5.00 this year. This is a small price to pay to come out and enjoy food, drink and fellowship with your Brothers and Sisters. New Years Eve party should be a great time. We have Sgt. Pete as a DJ again this year. There is rumor we are having some type of game in which my wife and I will be involved. To be honest I am scared.
It is hard to believe how fast the year is going. If you are interested in holding any type of office now is the time to let someone know. I would encourage all members to consider running for and holding an office in the Lodge.
Nomination for all positions we will be held the first meeting of February.
Thanks for all your hard work!!!!!!!!!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Prayers, Sympathy, Love and Understanding
It is good to see Fran back on duty and feeling better. Unfortunately, we lost PER Richard (Dick) Sullivan on November 15th. He was a life member of our Lodge. He will be missed by all.
Please don’t miss our Elk’s Memorial Service on December 6th. (to our absent members) Please keep everyone and our troop’s in your thought’s and prayers.
The Gun Show was a hit again. Thanks to Jerry “Mulling” and everyone that helped. Don’t forget to thank our members that cook breakfasts, dinners, and work the open grill during the show.
Also, to anyone that works Bingo. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. Bingo needs more players.
Happy 50th birthday to the Midwest Young Marines. Their ball was fantastic. Congratulations all.
A big thank you goes out to Jim Dougan and all that helped with the Veteran’s Appreciation Dinner and Dance. The Midwest Young Marines looked very good. The POW MIA table by Ted Miller VVA317 reminded us we still have people missing. “This is our Flag” brought tears to everyone’s eyes. This was outstandingly done by Larry Lewis, ER of North Kansas City Elk’s Lodge. LTCOL Fredrick C. Mielke USMCR was our guest speaker. The food was super as was the entertainment by “Dan Riggs Big Band”. If you missed this one be there next year for sure.
Hope to see you all at the Christmas Tea on December 24th at 5p.m. Drink Responsibly.
Lila and I wish one and all a very Happy Thanksgiving. We wish you a Merry Christmas & a Happy and Prosperous New Year.
